Abstract
This article explores an often-overlooked topic: the pedagogy of model composition in late eighteenth-century music, focusing on accompanimental textures. In his presentation of two-dozen typical classical-era textures (including some of the well-known musical topics), Silberman illustrates how his students incorporate them in their compositions.
