Publication Ethics Statement

Commitment to Ethical Excellence

The Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice is committed to upholding the highest standards of research ethics, publication integrity, and scholarly responsibility. As a journal dedicated to exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and human creativity, we recognize our unique responsibility to address the ethical implications inherent in this rapidly evolving field.

Research Ethics and Integrity

Human-Centered Values: All research published in our journal must demonstrate respect for human dignity, privacy, and autonomy. Studies involving human participants must comply with established ethical guidelines and obtain appropriate institutional review board approval.

Responsible AI Development: We encourage research that promotes the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies, with careful consideration of potential societal impacts, bias mitigation, and fairness across diverse populations.

Transparency and Reproducibility: Authors are expected to provide sufficient detail to enable replication of their work and to disclose any limitations or potential conflicts of interest that may influence their research.

AI Disclosure and Transparency

Mandatory AI Disclosure: All authors must complete our AI disclosure form at submission, detailing the use of AI tools in research design, data analysis, content generation, or manuscript preparation. This information ensures transparency while maintaining methodological confidentiality.

Published AI Statements: Each published article includes a concise AI disclosure statement, clearly outlining AI involvement while affirming that final interpretations and conclusions remain the authors' responsibility.

Ethical AI Integration: We support the transformative potential of AI in research while emphasizing responsible use that enhances rather than replaces human judgment and creativity.

While we welcome the use of AI tools to enhance research and writing processes, we expect that the primary authorial voice, critical analysis, and scholarly insights reflect genuine human intellectual contribution. Manuscripts should not be primarily AI-generated, and authors must ensure that AI assistance enhances rather than replaces original human thought and creativity.

Editorial Ethics

Innovative Governance: Our editorial board includes an AI system working alongside human experts, representing a pioneering approach to scholarly publishing. All final editorial decisions remain under human oversight, ensuring that technological innovation serves human values.

Dual Review Process: Our review process combines rigorous human peer review with AI-assisted feedback, providing comprehensive evaluation while maintaining the primacy of human expertise in scholarly assessment.

Conflict of Interest: All editorial board members, reviewers, and authors must disclose potential conflicts of interest. Our AI editorial member operates under transparent algorithms with no commercial interests.

Publication Ethics

Open Access Commitment: We maintain a fully open-access model without Article Processing Charges, ensuring equitable access to knowledge regardless of economic barriers.

Intellectual Property: We respect intellectual property rights and require proper attribution of all sources, including AI-generated content when applicable.

Correction and Retraction: We maintain clear policies for post-publication corrections and retractions, with particular attention to issues that may arise from AI-assisted research or editorial processes.

Inclusive Excellence and Broad Participation

Interdisciplinary Dialogue: We actively seek diverse perspectives across disciplines, cultures, and methodological approaches to enrich the conversation around human-centered AI.

Broad Participation: Our editorial processes welcome contributors from various backgrounds, career stages, and institutional affiliations.

Excellence Through Multiple Perspectives: We are committed to identifying and addressing potential biases in both human and AI-assisted editorial processes.

Accountability and Continuous Improvement

Ethical Evolution: As AI technologies and their applications continue to evolve, we commit to regularly reviewing and updating our ethical guidelines to address emerging challenges and opportunities.

Community Engagement: We welcome feedback from our scholarly community regarding ethical concerns and continuously strive to improve our practices.

Transparency in Innovation: Our pioneering use of AI in editorial processes is conducted with full transparency, contributing to the broader understanding of ethical AI integration in academic publishing.
