Philosophy of Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice
For more information, please see Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice Aims and Scope page.
Who Can Submit?
We believe in cultivating an open and ongoing dialogue. We invite practitioners, educators, industry partners, and thought leaders from all disciplines to contribute to shaping the discourse on human-centered AI across creative, educational, legal, and practical domains.
Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).
General Submission Rules
We welcome submissions in various formats: In addition to traditional full-length articles, we encourage submissions in shorter formats focusing on emerging research.
- Case Studies and Practical Insights: Submissions of 500 to 1000 words are welcomed as concise case studies or practical insights.
- Publication Process: Short-form articles will initially be published on LinkedIn for immediate visibility and later compiled into a quarterly special issue.
- Editorial Board Involvement: An AI system serves as an official member of our editorial board, working alongside distinguished human experts. This AI contributes unique analytical insights and helps identify emerging trends, while final decisions remain under human oversight.
- AI as a Reviewer: In addition to evaluations by three expert human reviewers, an AI reviewer offers supplementary feedback on language clarity, technical consistency, and overall manuscript coherence. Furthermore, this AI reviewer is available as a public pre-review resource, allowing authors and community members to gain early insights into submitted works.
- Storage and back-up of the article on the author's computer(s) and digital media (e.g., diskettes, back-up servers, Zip disks, etc.), provided that the article stored on these computers and media is not readily accessible by persons other than the author(s);
- Posting of the article on the author(s) personal website, provided that the website is non-commercial;
- Posting of the article on the internet as part of a non-commercial open access institutional repository or other non-commercial open access publication site affiliated with the author(s)'s place of employment (e.g., a Phrenology professor at the University of Southern North Dakota can have her article appear in the University of Southern North Dakota's Department of Phrenology online publication series); and
- Posting of the article on a non-commercial course website for a course being taught by the author at the university or college employing the author.
Authors submitting these shorter works should follow the same consistency guidelines in citation style and formatting as full-length articles.
Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice, please contact the editors.
Formatting Requirements
Journal of Human-Centered AI: Creativity and Practice has no general rules about the formatting of articles upon initial submission. There are, however, rules governing the formatting of the final submission. See Final Manuscript Preparation Guidelines for details. Although bepress can provide limited technical support, it is ultimately the responsibility of the author to produce an electronic version of the article as a high-quality PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) file, or a Microsoft Word, WordPerfect or RTF file that can be converted to a PDF file.
It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
Citation Style Guidelines:
We accept any citation style, provided that it is applied consistently throughout your manuscript. Authors are encouraged to choose the style most appropriate for their discipline, as long as clarity and consistency are maintained.
AI Disclosure:
We encourage authors to harness the transformative potential of AI in their research while underscoring the importance of responsible use. To support ethical and transparent integration, we have developed guidelines on AI use in research—detailed information that all submitters are encouraged to review before finalizing their manuscripts.Initial AI Disclosure Form:
To ensure transparency in our research process, we require all authors to complete an AI disclosure form at the time of submission. This form asks for information on AI tools used during the research and manuscript preparation, from data analysis and language editing to content generation. The disclosure is maintained internally for editorial review and quality assurance, ensuring that our use of AI is both ethical and accountable. Only a summarized version of this information will be included in the published article, providing readers with clear insight into AI involvement while safeguarding sensitive methodological details.
Published AI Disclosure Statement:
Each published research article will include a concise AI disclosure statement outlining the specific roles played by AI tools in the study. This statement will note whether AI was used for tasks such as data analysis, language refinement, or content generation, and will clarify that the final interpretations and conclusions remain the responsibility of the authors. This practice reinforces our commitment to transparency and ethical research, ensuring that readers are fully informed about the integration of AI in the scholarly work.
