Athens Clay Pullias was the thirteenth president of David Lipscomb College (now Lipscomb University He attended David Lipscomb College, Cumberland College, Vanderbilt University, Cumberland School of Law, and Samford University. Milestones during his administration include Lipscomb Expansion Program launched, first Song Leaders’ Contest (1947), senior college status (1948), first homecoming queen (1948), member of the Southern Association of College and Schools (1954), first Singarama, member of the National Council of Teacher Education (1966), alma mater adopted, first Bison Day (1964), high school football team formed (first since 1938), four quarter system adopted, college enrollment exceeded 2200, and the first NAIA Baseball championship (1977).
