Our Mission

CSKLS is an international community of Christian scholars and professionals committed to excellence in kinesiology, leisure, and sport through faith-integration, professional development, mentoring, and fellowship.

Purpose of the Annual Conference

The purpose of the annual CSKLS conference is to share current research and pedagogical ideas in kinesiology, leisure, and sport studies, provide fellowship opportunities to connect with other Christian scholars, and foster professional collaborative opportunities, all with an emphasis in faith integration. 

Conference Objectives
The purpose of the annual CSKLS conference is to:

  1. Develop and contribute faith-integrated scholarly work to those in higher education and the Church in our related disciplines.
    2.  Strengthen Christian professional relationships and foster collaborative scholarly efforts.
    3.  Provide quality presentations to meet professional development needs.
    4.  Share effective faith-integrative pedagogical approaches and research efforts.

 Conference Format

While in-person is preferred, for those who are unable to attend in-person there is a virtual presentation option. If you are needing to present in a virtual format, please indicate that at the bottom of your abstract.   

Listed below are the three disciplinary tracks of the conference. In your submission, please indicate the track your abstract aims to address. Furthermore, we ask the author(s) to indicate whether their submission is for: 1.) Professional (Academic and/or practitioner), or 2.) Student. 

All submitted abstracts must indicate how they facilitate the building of knowledge and generate learning outcomes for conference attendees through distinctively Christian approaches to scholarly work:    

TRACK 1 -- Kinesiology (includes exercise physiology, physical education, movement science, health and wellness, and sport performance)
TRACK 2 -- Leisure Studies (includes
community recreation, therapeutic recreation, outdoor recreation, parks, and tourism)  

TRACK 3 – Sport Studies (including dance, sport management, sport psychology, and social sport studies).

STUDENT TRACK— (including kinesiology, leisure, and sport studies topics)

Presentation Proposal Guidelines

Potential presenters are encouraged to submit a presentation proposal for the annual CSKLS conference in one of the appropriate tracks.  Each presentation must address relevant issues relating to the Christian worldview and faith integration in at least one of the academic tracks listed above.  Proposals must contain the following elements:

  1. Title of presentation
  2. Presenter(s) information
  3. Abstract (not to exceed 300 words)
  4. Christian Perspective

 Acceptance of Presentations

Only complete proposals will be eligible to be reviewed by the Program Committee through a blind, rolling review of proposals. Selections will be made according to:

  1. Appropriateness of content for the desired track and session type.
  2. Demonstrated organization of material and learning outcomes.

Submitting a proposal indicates intent of the presenter(s) to register for and attend the conference.
